Tesla prepares to build Semi truck factory

The company is preparing Tesla to begin construction of its next large Semi truck plant in Nevada, as suggested by massive steel shipments that recently arrived at the site.


In a post on Sunday, X platform user Hinrichs Zane shared drone footage of the site of the upcoming factory, which is being built as part of an expansion of Tesla's existing Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada.

In the footage, you can see a massive amount of steel that was recently delivered to the site, indicating that the company is close to starting construction work on the long-awaited factory.


Tesla broke ground on the Giga Nevada expansion in January, paving the way for increased production of both Semi and 4680 battery cells.


During the company's earnings call Tesla For the first quarter of 2024 In April, Semi program director Dan Priestley shared some insights into the upcoming facility, noting that the automaker aims to have the first Semi truck rolling off the production line in late 2025, with customers arriving starting in 2026.





Tesla delivered its first semi-units to PepsiCo in December 2022, and while the Semi program has been fairly quiet since then, the automaker has recently started delivering more and expanding to other companies.


In May, Tesla delivered an additional 50 Semi trucks to PepsiCo, following deliveries to Costco, Martin Brower, and Walmart.


Additionally, the Tesla Semi has been used frequently around the company's factories, with the automaker recently highlighting that it has been used to ship more than 20,000 battery packs outside of Giga Nevada.


They've also been spotted at the factory in Fremont, California, and Tesla recently shared some footage of the vehicle moving goods between the two factories.
