The debut of the Mercedes-Maybach S580e as the first plug-in hybrid model

The Mercedes-Maybach plug-in hybrid model is the S580e. The automaker already has a non-Maybach version on the market, which debuted in 2020.


The plug-in hybrid will debut in China first, and Thailand, Europe, and other countries will be the first to launch.


Mercedes-Benz's 3.0-liter inline-six petrol engine powers the plug-in hybrid. On its own, it generates 367 hp (270 kW) and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. The electric motor generates 150 hp (110 kW) and 440 Nm of torque from the first engine revolution.

  • The electric motor and petrol engine produce 510 hp (375 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque, the same as the Mercedes-Benz S580e, Mercedes claims the Maybach S580e plug-in hybrid can accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h). clock) in 5.1 seconds and reaches 155 mph (250 km/h).


  • In electric mode, the Mercedes-Maybach S580e plug-in hybrid will have a much lower top speed of 87 mph (140 km/h).

  • But the Mercedes-Benz S580e is known to have a 28.0-kWh battery pack, which is more than double the size of the plug-in hybrid it replaces. According to WLTP, the Maybach has an all-electric range of up to 62 miles (100 km), the same as the Benz version.


  • Many electrical features are discreetly integrated into the car by Maybach. The charger port door is hidden on the left side. Blue accents in the headlights indicate its electrical status. Maybach has included a battery charge status indicator from the inside to the instrument panel.


  • Mercedes-Maybach hasn't specified or revealed any other significant changes to the plug-in variant model, like the rest of the Maybach lineup, but it will be full of luxury and elegance as well as plenty of modern technology.
