Maserati Ghibli 2023 specifications and prices

The Ghibli offers a twin-turbo V-6 engine and has a premium cabin. The 2023 Maserati Ghibli Thalia... specifications and prices.

Maserati Ghibli 2023

With powerful twin-turbo powertrains and an attractive design, the 2023 Maserati Ghibli is a sports sedan with an understated Italian flavor. You won't find any weak four-cylinders here either. The base Ghibli engine is a twin-turbo V-6 making 345 horsepower that can be upgraded to 424 horsepower in the midrange Modena model. The shredder model is the twin-turbo V-8 Trofeo, which pumps out 580 horsepower. The Ghibli's chassis is tuned for fun, with sharp sports car handling balanced with a ride refined enough to satisfy luxury buyers who might opt for an Audi A6 or Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Unfortunately, this refinement doesn't extend to Ghibli's interior. It features a mix of materials ranging from expected leather, wood, and metal. But those richer finishes are overlapped by some cheap plastic trim and fit and finish. However, Ghibli's quirky looks and chills-inducing performance are traits to be admired. The 2023 Maserati Ghibli Thalia... specifications and prices.

What's new in the 2023 Maserati Ghibli

While the Ghibli won't receive any major changes for 2023, its entry price certainly doesn't. The base GT model is now about $9,000 more expensive than it was last year. The mid-range Modena is up $11,000, and the top-level Trofeo is up $10,000.

Engine, transmission, and performance

The Ghibli's base setup is a 345-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 with rear-wheel drive; the Modena model raises its power to 424 horsepower. Going with the range-topping Trofeo model, it adds a 580-hp twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive (Q4 in Maserati parlance) is available with the V-6. Both engines have an eight-speed automatic transmission. We tested the Model S (replaced by the Modena for 2022) in 2014 and were charmed by the strange sounds it made. On our test circuit, it managed a 4.7-second zero-to-60mph time—quick for 2014, but today it can be bested by a non-AMG version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Since then, Maserati has upped the power of this version of the engine. V-6 to 424 bhp. When we tested this engine in a Maserati Levante SUV, it managed 5.1 seconds, so the lighter Ghibli should be noticeably faster. The V-8-powered Trofeo model packs more power, and we estimate it's capable of a 3.7-second sprint to 60 mph. The Ghibli's demeanor on the road is playful, but it maintains a level of refinement that keeps it on the hunt with some of today's best luxury sports sedans.

fuel economy

Since the Ghibli lacks a four-cylinder base model, its EPA fuel economy ratings are thirstier than the average luxury midsize sedan. Rear-wheel-drive V-6 models get ratings of 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway; Going all-wheel drive drops the city rating to 17 mpg. The V-8-powered Trofeo is rated at 13 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. We didn't test the Ghibli on the highway's fuel economy route at 75 mph.

Interior, comfort, and cargo

While the exterior exudes Italian style, the cabin isn't as luxurious as one would expect. A few of its internal bits are sourced from slimmer compounds within the Stellantis product range. For example, it uses the same window switches as the Jeep Cherokee and the light switches and steering column stem from the now-defunct Chrysler Town & Country. However, buyers can customize the Ghibli with beautifully stitched leather and silk seats, and a faux suede hood.

Information, entertainment, and communication

All Ghibli models come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features a glossy screen and runs a redesigned version of Google's Android Automotive interface. Navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all standard. An eight-speaker audio system is also standard, but audiophiles will be happy to know that Maserati offers two different premium systems as upgrades. The first is a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon setup, while the second is a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

Safety and driver assistance features

The Ghibli is offered with several driver assistance features; Mostly standard equipment, key safety features include:

  1. Standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
  2. Standard departure warning with lane keeps assisting.
  3. Standard adaptive cruise control.

Warranty and maintenance coverage

Most midsize luxury cars from Europe offer simple four-year/50,000-mile warranties, and the Ghibli follows suit. It would be nice if Maserati offered a free scheduled maintenance package with the purchase of a new Ghibli, but this policy has been omitted from the car's standard package. The 5 Series and Jaguar XF both offer better value in this class.

The limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles

The powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles

There is no free scheduled maintenance.

Maserati Ghibli 2023 price
