The Tesla Model Y 'Juniper' facelift is set to debut in 2025. Last year, Tesla carried out a much-needed facelift for its popular Model 3 sedan, which not only featured a sharper and more modern look but also included a controversial interior update, replacing indicator stalks with buttons on the steering wheel.
The same changes will be seen in the revised Tesla Model Y, with the future vehicle named under the "Juniper" project.

Tesla Model Y 2025
A pair of leaked shots surfaced online a few months ago. Although they weren't highly descriptive, they gave the first glimpse of the new car and confirmed that its unveiling was imminent.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, announced on social media at the time that “no updates for the Model Y will be released this year.”
Differences in the Upcoming Tesla Model Y
The key difference between the next Model 3 and Model Y will be in the rear. A leaked image showed a dim view of the rear tailgate.
It also hinted that the SUV will feature a full-width light bar with integrated Tesla lettering, along with a small camera hidden behind part of the glossy black trim.
The light clusters should resemble those of the Model 3, with more prominent LED signatures and hidden turn signals.
The overall shape is unlikely to change due to the typical and well-documented constraints placed on designers when refreshing a car.
As a result, the long trunk lid, steeply raked rear screen, relatively long wheelbase, and short overhangs will carry over. However, new aerodynamic alloy wheel designs and additional body-colored trims may appear.
According to Auto Express, slimmer lighting and smoother surfaces should provide the much-needed facelift, refreshing the look for the next few years.
Interior of the Tesla Model Y 2025
Unfortunately, the leaked interior image shared on social media doesn’t reveal much about the Model Y’s cabin.
However, considering the likelihood that the Model Y’s interior will be almost entirely lifted from the Model 3, there are few surprises left to uncover.
This means a carbon copy of the sedan’s minimalist dashboard, featuring a large central screen and no instrument cluster.
Most of the vehicle’s functions will be integrated into that main screen, while the indicators, as mentioned earlier, will be moved to the steering wheel.

What to Expect in the New Model Y
The Model Y’s doors will be powered by buttons, as always, but new seats and more comprehensive, multi-colored ambient lighting are expected. Standard Tesla Easter eggs, like the whoopee cushion and built-in games, will also be carried over.
Tesla Model Y Power and Performance
The Tesla Model Y 2025 is expected to offer rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and high-performance variants, with the latter producing over 500 horsepower.
There’s a chance Tesla will offer multiple battery sizes, but as the name suggests, the Long Range version is likely the best choice for consumers looking to maximize the mileage of their electric SUV – with a range of around 350 miles seeming likely for the larger, bulkier Model Y.
Charging in the 2025 Model Y
Elsewhere, Tesla aims to retain its class-leading charging speeds of up to 250kW, which is made easier by its extensive Supercharger network.
This not only allows owners to plug in and charge (without worrying about payment methods) but also gives them access to lower rates.
Tesla’s network is one of the most economical rapid charging systems in the UK, and certain stations are now accessible to non-Tesla electric vehicle owners.
Tesla Model Y 2025 Arrival
Previously, it was believed that the Model Y "Juniper" could launch this year, but it seems that any significant improvements will have to wait until at least 2025.
Model 3 prices dropped with the new look, which may apply to the Model Y, so the SUV is expected to come in at around £42,000 for the new version.
